There is no single price for a tattoo in Málaga. Each studio and each artist sets the price their own way, and most do not publish a price list. This guide collects the prices that some Málaga studios do publish. We say where each number comes from and when we checked it (25 and 26 October 2026). All prices are in euros and are a guide only. They change over time, and the only quote that counts is the one the studio gives you for your design.

The minimum price in Málaga

Three sources put the minimum at about €50. La Cueva Tattoo says on its website: "Nuestro precio mínimo es €50" (our minimum price is €50). Ink'side Tattoo Studio publishes €50 for a fine line tattoo up to 5 × 5 cm. And Mariló Fernández, a tattoo artist at Tattoo Stone Málaga, told the newspaper El Español on 15 April 2026 that the minimum price of a tattoo is around €50 or €60.

That minimum is for the smallest job, not for a tattoo of any size. After that, the price goes up with the work.

Examples of prices published by Málaga studios

Each number belongs to the studio named and cannot be used for other studios.

  • La Cueva Tattoo (Calle Armengual de la Mota, 37): minimum price €50. Its website says the price depends on how complex the design is, the body area and the size.
  • Ink'side Tattoo Studio (Calle Santa María, 13): fine line tattoos up to 5 × 5 cm cost €50 for one piece, €80 for two and €120 for three. All its prices include VAT (IVA, the Spanish sales tax). For custom work there is no fixed price: it depends on size, detail and whether the piece has colour or solid black. A cover-up (hiding an old tattoo) is quoted for free from a photo. Small pieces are done as walk-ins, without an appointment. For big pieces, you send your idea first.
  • Brisa Tattoo Málaga (Avenida de la Aurora, 1), on its Booksy page: tattoo S €50 (1 h), tattoo M €100 (1 h 15 min), tattoo L €200 (1 h 30 min). The page does not say how big each size is.
  • Diavel Tattoo (Calle Calderería, 8): "estimated" prices for one side of the forearm (20 to 30 cm) unless another size is shown. Realism €680, colour realism €780, micro realism (5 to 7 cm) €380, old school €480, neo-traditional €550, anime and comic €550. Its website does not say if these prices are per session or per hour. It also has a paid club with 50% off tattoos of €200 or more; check the conditions on its website.

Put side by side, the numbers differ a lot. At Diavel Tattoo, the same forearm costs much more in realism than in old school. A micro realism piece of 5 to 7 cm is estimated at €380, while other studios publish €50 for their smallest size. You cannot compare these numbers if you do not know what each one includes (exact size, style, detail). That is why you should always ask for a quote for your own design.

What changes the price

  • Size and working time. More skin means more hours and more material.
  • Body area. La Cueva Tattoo lists the body area as one of the price factors.
  • How complex the design is, and the style. At Diavel Tattoo, the price changes with the style even when the size is the same.
  • Colour and extras. Kazzo Tattoo, in its price guide, estimates that colour can add 15% to 25% to the quote compared with black and grey. That is the studio's own estimate, with no published method.

One studio's general estimates

Kazzo Tattoo (Málaga) publishes a guide with the "national average" for Spain. These are not its own prices. A minimalist or simple line tattoo of 2 to 5 cm costs €60 to €90. A small detailed one of 5 to 10 cm costs €100 to €180. A medium one of 10 to 15 cm costs €200 to €450. A large one of over 15 cm costs €400 to €800. The guide itself says each quote is made after seeing the design, and it does not say where the data comes from. Use these numbers only as a rough idea.

Another reference: the OCU study (2018)

In 2018 the OCU, a Spanish consumer organisation, asked for quotes at 100 studios in five cities. The tattoo was 5 × 5 cm and the design needed no changes. The average price was €91 in Madrid, €95 in Seville, €96 in Valencia, €123 in Barcelona and €132 in Bilbao. Málaga was not in the study and the figures are several years old. They still show that prices vary a lot between cities and studios.

Deposits and quotes

Some studios ask for a deposit (money paid in advance) to book a date. La Cueva Tattoo asks for €50 as the rule and €100 for big pieces or work in several sessions. The deposit is taken off the total at the end. Ink'side Tattoo Studio asks for €20 to hold a walk-in date and from €50 for custom work. That is also taken off the final price. Before you pay a deposit, ask whether it is deducted and what happens if you have to cancel.

If the price is very low

Price is not the only thing that matters. Decreto 71/2017 says that needles and anything that goes through the skin must be sterile (free of germs) and single-use (art. 12.1). It also says the studio must inform you and you must sign a written consent before you start (art. 17). In the El Español interview, a Tattoo Stone Málaga artist criticised unlicensed people who tattoo very cheaply in homes and other places that are not set up for it. That is the opinion of someone in the trade, but it is a good reason to check the place before you choose on price alone. Our guide to getting a tattoo in Málaga on holiday lists the checks you can make yourself.

How to ask for a quote

To get a useful number, send the studio a reference image, the size in centimetres and the body area. Ask for the price in writing. Ask if it is per session or per hour, how many sessions they expect, and if touch-ups are included. Compare quotes from a few studios, but also look at the portfolio (photos of past work) and the artist's style, not just the price.
